Ink and Wine - May 22

Join artist and ink maker Molly Holmlund for a day of ink and wine. We will start by foraging along the Klickitat River, learning about and collecting materials that we will later make into ink. This will be light pleasant hiking along the river with various terrain. We will eat a provided lunch in one of the many lovely areas on our hike. With our baskets responsibly full, we carpool or individually drive to COR winery. At the beautiful grounds of this winery in Lyle, WA, we will make some simple inks, meaning they don't take too much time. As we drink Cor wine and make inks I will take you through my process of painting. I will lead you through a few painting exercises and we will freely play on material squares and watercolor paper. Absolutely no painting experience required, just the desire to learn and have fun!

Molly Holmlund is an artist living in White Salmon Washington. She makes her own inks by gathering materials around her and coaxing them down to their singular color. The layers of translucent colors creates new colors and new shapes, interacting with each other in often surprising ways, offering their own language of color.
