2022 Student Art Exhibition
The Dalles Art Center has shifted the annual Middle, High and Elementary Schools to run simultaneously in May. The high school students have work in ceramics, drawing, and computer illustration. Each year a select group of students complete an Advanced Placement program. This year we have two AP students, Hannah Haight and Gabriela Marinas, on display. Last year we presented student work in the downtown businesses. It was a great opportunity to get these talented artists in to the community. We continue this new tradition again this year with elementary student art work display with support of The City of The Dalles and the following businesses:
-
Sherman County – Tony’s Building (City of The Dalles)
-
St. Mary’s School – Susan’s Sewing
-
Maupin School – Joy Reneke
-
Colonel Wright – Old Sear’s Building, The Workshop
-
Mrs. Stewart’s 3rd Grade – Westwind Gallery
-
Maupin School – Columbia Bank
A Celebration of Doug Leash
In conjunction with the student exhibition we are also celebrating the life of Doug Leash, artist and art instructor at The Dalles High School. Doug passed away earlier this year. We are honored to display Doug’s work in the gallery along with the student work. Thank you to Dawn Hert, Taunie and Michael Leash for their support in displaying the work. We are grateful for the support of Optimist Printers and Westwind Frame and Gallery for their support in putting a beautiful collection of photographs together for a display of his time teaching in The Dalles.
