March 2019 “Nurturing Potential” Show Entry Information
March 5 – 30, 2019
The Dalles Art Center is rethinking the tradition of the Garden Art Show. This year’s theme, Nurturing Potential, recognizes the past and pushes us towards the future of TDAC. We are a community organization that celebrates new artists, shares knowledge, and supports artists through sales and opportunities to exhibit. TDAC challenges you to engage with Nurturing Potential as openly as possible. When we think of nurturing, we are reminded of a garden. What do you nurture in your garden? What does potential look like if your garden is metaphorical? Who or what in your life has potential worth nurturing? How does potential relate to Spring?
Be creative and have fun with this theme! You will be asked to describe how your work relates to Nurturing Potential upon submission. Works in all media are welcome. This show is open to the Mid-Columbia area and cash prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place as well as People’s Choice.
Submissions will be accepted Feb. 18 – March 1, 2019 during regular gallery hours:
Tuesday - Saturday 11-5pm.
Fees: Artists may submit up to three pieces to be juried into the show. There is a $20 entry fee for the first piece, then a $10 subsequent entry fee for EACH of the following pieces. If artwork is not juried into show, submission fees are not refunded. The reason we ask for an entry fee is to help cover the cost of cash prizes. 75% of the money taken in from entry fees goes directly back into exhibit awards, the rest of the money helps cover gallery expenses that come along with featuring a show like this.
Entries must be current work that was completed within the past year.
All work is to be the artist’s own, original work - no reproductions, copies, or class work. Please keep in mind that using someone else’s photograph or image as a reference, without permission, is not original and is considered plagiarism.
Work should not have been shown at The Dalles Art Center previously.
Any media is acceptable.
Work MUST be ready to display or hang - work must be framed and be able to hang from a hook. Please use a wire rather than a toothed hanger. If you have special display needs, please contact us ahead of time to make arrangements. If work does not meet gallery standards for quality AND safe display, it will not be accepted into the show.
Artists with oversized pieces should arrange ahead for delivery and set up of work.
Work accepted into a show is to remain for the duration of the show unless the Director grants a specific exemption. Work must be removed promptly at the end of the show unless prior arrangements have been made.
We prefer work be for sale, but do not require it to be. The gallery will receive a 35% commission on any work sold during a show, regardless of source of sale; artists set selling price.
The Dalles Art Center reserves the right to make the final decision on what will be included in the show.
