This brush-up workshop is for oil painters of any level, beginning to advanced, who are interested in tuning up their oil painting skills. Following this class is an Extensive Oil Painting Studio class with Chris later in October.

Outline of skill, techniques, & materials you will encounter:

We will first talk about color and the appropriate use of color. Then we will work on mixing color by matching colors by eye, gaining important information about which colors to use and when. We will start by learning how to properly prepare a canvas or panel before the painting begins, then construct a painting using light and dark blocking to reach the most effective results.

MATERIALS: A simple palette, using just 7 or 8 colors, will be applied during the course and provided by TDAC. Although sable brushes, flats, and rounds are preferred, any oil brushes you may have will do.  A palette knife, paper palettes, and a plastic case for holding your materials is appropriate to provide on your own. Several small, 9x12 canvases or canvas boards need to be purchased and brought to class.
