After studying the still-life paintings in the Museum’s collection, we will set up a still-life and paint from life during class. Using the knowledge of composition gained by viewing the museum’s permanent collection and talking about the possible symbolism of items and lighting, we will construct and paint this staged still-life throughout the 5 week course. Students will be encouraged to take photographs of the still-life and work at home, outside of class. All students will receive one free admission pass for an additional trip to Maryhill to further explore the collections. (Pass is good only through the duration of the class.)
Be ready to begin painting on the very first class. The instructor will email specifics prior to the first class.
While all media are welcome, Chris Pothier specializes in oil painting.
This class will be limited to 10 students, giving all involved more one-on-one time with the instructor.
