Spring classes and Summer Art Camp info listed below.

Spring Classes

Japanese Book Binding: Marilyn Wold, instructor.  Saturday, May 10, 10am-4pm.  Traditional Japanese stitched bookbinding.  This is one of the most versatile and elegant forms of bookbinding.  These exquisite small books can be used for many art forms, such as poetry or very special gifts.  You will be making two to three small books using different decorative stitches.

A brief demonstration will be done on the art of sumi-nagashi, often called "cloud art".  Cost for the workshop is $40 plus a supply fee of $10.  A special Mother's Day price for each Mother and Daughter (minimum age 10) attending the class in honor of Mother's Day is $65. Bring a sack lunch.  Pre-registration and class payment are required.

Gyotaku, The Art of Japanese Fish Printing and Nature Printing with Herbs, Flowers and Weeds: Marilyn Wold, instructor. Saturday, May 17, 10am-4pm.  Gyotaku was used in early Japan to record the type of fish caught.  There are two methods, direct and indirect.  Kozo paper, sumi ink, brushes and local fish is all that is needed for this exciting art form.  Fish prints can also be done on cloth.

Nature printing is excellent for making gift cards.  It only takes ink, a brayer, plants, a small piece of plexi-glass and some lovely papers.  This method was used by National Geographic to record plants in the field.  Cost for the day is $40 plus a $10 lab fee.  Bring a sack lunch.  Pre-registration and class payment are required.
